Background

Kristen Powell is a student in the Humanities Department of Media University. She graduated in 2018 with a Master’s degree in Anthropology from George Mason University and has worked in product research and people operations in the technology industry.
After experimenting with photography as a hobby for over the past decade, she is excited to merge her experience in anthropology with her passion for photography as she shifts her career toward the field of visual storytelling.
Alongside being a student assistant with Media University, Kristen also facilitates workshops relating to personal growth/discovery and photography for an online journaling community. Kristen’s current research interests include the relationship of identity, artificial intelligence, community and space.
She is currently working on sound and photography projects exploring the concept of ‘home identity’ of members of the expat community in Berlin.
Kristen is currently located in Berlin and is happy to help with any questions you have about the program or settling in Berlin.
