Data protection in the digital world: guest lecture by Dr. Volker Wodianka
Data protection has been a highly topical and much-discussed issue at least since the launch of the Corona-Warn-App. On 25 June 2020, Dr. Volker Wodianka visited lecturer Sophie Carls in the lecture “Digital Economy” and spoke with the students about data protection in the digital world.
Wodianka is a specialist in the areas of Data Security & Privacy Law. Only recently he was included in the “Best Lawyers List of Germany“. In addition, Wodianka advises companies as an external data protection officer and lectures on data protection at various universities and further education institutions.
Mr. Wodianka gave the students a fundamental introduction to the areas of application of the GDPR. In this context he explained various currently relevant aspects such as the topic of reporting data breaches and cookie content. He then informed the students in detail about the documentation obligations of companies with regard to the handling of personal data. Finally, he explained further aspects of data protection law with regard to the use of the Corona-Warn-App of the German government.
We would like to thank Mr. Wodianka very much for this valuable lecture, which has helped to sensitize the students to data protection in a digital environment.
