From theory to practice: Collaboration with the AI startup Streem.ai

September 9, 2021

Last semester, Prof. Maika Rawolle supervised the master module “Human and Organizational Resource Management” which is made up of 50% theoretical parts and 50% project work. The students could choose from different project topics and were invited to  the artificial intelligence startup Streem.ai where they took the role of consultants. The results were presented to Streem.ai founders Avi Elran, Abou George and Gary Abela and were a great success.

Here are some of the key learnings that Streem.ai will implement:

Team “Leadership Development” suggested implementing two career pathways: Manager (leading people and teams) vs. Maker (leading technical excellence) for tech related roles. The team based its suggestions on a benchmarking analysis in leading tech companies as well as a survey with Streem.ai employees, with the result that 60% of the team members would actually choose the maker path and they see strong advantages like “Role tailored to my needs and strengths” and “freedom of development”.
Streem.ai will implement career pathways to provide equal opportunities for individuals who want to take over people leadership and individuals who want to take over thought leadership.

Team “Recruitment” evaluated the recruitment and selection process based on KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and gave valuable and pragmatic advice on how to improve speed and quality of hiring. They also assessed hiring needs and designed a hiring roadmap based on which Streem.ai now can plan and drive hiring initiatives.

Team “Employer Branding” did an analysis of the attributes that describe Streem.ai as an employer, like “clear Vision”, “Family”, “Diversity”, “Recognition”, “Care” and “Pioneer in Technology”. They designed an Employer Branding Campaign to improve the transparency of the Employee Value Proposition on the website as well as in social media and job ads. Stream.ai has already kicked off first initiatives targeting LinkedIn and Glassdoor.

On behalf of Streem.ai, Prof. Rawolle thanks all students for their engagement, creativity, and professionality during this project. A huge thank you to Vedanti Shinde, People and Culture Specialist at Streem.ai and former Master student at Media University, for additionally supporting the students in their projects!
