Media University site manager Prof. Eick at mobility conference
At the two-day TÜV Fit to Drive Conference 2022, following her talk, Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Eick, site director of Media University Cologne, discussed the question of a sensible level of vehicle autonomy in our traffic.
Whether in local, intercontinental, private or professional context – mobility is one of the topics of conversation in society, business and politics. At the TÜV Fit to Drive Conference 2022 in Berlin at the end of September, the Cologne Media University site director Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Eick discussed the question “How much vehicle autonomy shall it be? An age-differentiated user perspective”. Other speakers at the two-day conference were Rainer Wendt, Federal Chairman of the German Police Union, and former Transport Minister Prof. Kurt Bodewig, President of the German Road Safety Association, who took part in the panel discussion with Prof. Eick following her presentation.
Prof. Eick teaches the module User Experience and New Media in the Department of Psychology, among other subjects in the study program M.Sc. Business Psychology: the module is particularly focussed on the design of human-machine interfaces as they are implemented in modern vehicles. Designers, engineers and psychologists work together to create applications that are as intuitive as possible. The aspect of user-friendliness or “usability” is also central in Media University’s undergraduate study programs B.Sc. Media and Business Psychology, B.A. Game Design and Interactive Media, and B.A. Graphic Design and Visual Communication.
