Machine learning can predict the quality of relationships
Starting in April, Prof. Dr. Inga Großmann will be teaching in the Psychology Department of Media University Berlin. Shortly before starting her new teaching assignment, she has published a study on machine learning and satisfaction in relationships on the PLOS ONE science and peer review platform.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning and their influence on our lives are on everyone’s lips. Applications and interactive media with self-learning technologies make everyday life easier in many ways. The extent to which they can also predict the characteristics of interpersonal relationships, above all emotional and sexual satisfaction, was the focus of a study by Prof. Dr. Inga Großmann and her two colleagues Prof. Artus Krohn-Grimberghe and André Hottung from the field of Data Science. The corresponding publication has now been published on PLOS ONE, a multi-disciplinary science platform: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0213569
The publication entitled “Machine learning meets partner matching: Predicting the future relationship quality based on personality traits” presents the results of the study, in which the partnership quality of nearly 200 subjects were predicted four years after they had answered a comprehensive personality questionnaire. Co-author Prof. Dr. Inga Großmann also works as a senior psychologist at Arya mHealth, a subsidiary of Get.On Institut, which together with the BARMER insurance company develops, evaluates and offers innovative digital psychotherapy methods. She will be teaching in the degree program M.A. Business Psychology at Media University Berlin from summer semester 2019.
