Students from Brazil visit Media University Berlin
On Thursday, a group of 12 students and their Professor from the Federal University of Paraná visited the Berlin campus and gave a presentation on Brazil’s culture and the academic system.
The university, which was founded in 1912, is located in the city of Curitiba in the southern state of Paraná. It is the oldest, and also one of the most renowned universities of the country. The group and Prof. Alessandra Bianchi spent the morning joining Prof. Dr. Markus Ziener and students from the international programs M.A. Convergent Journalism and M.A. Public Relations and Digital Marketing. Two of the students from Brazil, both of whom study at the Psychology Department, gave a presentation on the rich cultural heritage and history of their country. They went into more detail talking about the German migration to Brazil and praised the architectural sights all across their country, specifically the famous buildings by Oscar Niemeyer.
Furthermore, they gave an overview about Brazil’s rich and highly-developed academic landscape with over 2.400 universities, nearly 300 of them being public. Afterwards, both the guests and Media University’s students took the opportunity to engage with each other and discuss current Brazilian politics and the upcoming elections.
At the end of their visit, the students, Prof. Alessandra Bianchi, and Media University’s International Officer Shubhesh Sawant met outside in front of the campus to take a group picture, before they headed to their next destination in Berlin.
