Students organize “Creative Thursday”
Last week, a group of students, all of which are in their first semester of M.A. Communication Design at Media University Berlin, hosted the event “Creative Thursday” .
The public event took place at Space Shack, a co-working space located in Berlin-Schöneberg. The students showcased works they created during the course “Critical & Creative Thinking”, taught by Jenny Bergström. The aim of the course was to explore creative methods drawn from different design traditions.
Thursday’s visitors were invited to take part in a number of interactive tasks and games to unleash their own creative potential. This was achieved by using a vast variety of methods and tools: Whether a modified version of Exquisite Corpse (a method invented by the Surrealists) or a completely new card game for creating innovative ideas—the common goal was to expand the notion of creativity and to move away from settled thinking patterns in order to build more creative cultures.
The activities were well-received by the guests. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to develop new ideas in a playful atmosphere and engage with people from all over the world.
