Winners of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship announced
At the beginning of the winter semester 2018/19, Media University awarded a total of eleven scholarships to students across all three locations. Congratulations!
The scholarships were handed over at the matriculation ceremonies by Media University’s Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ronald Freytag.
The following students received the Deutschlandstipendium:
Campus Berlin: Sabrina Apel, Martha Harms, Julia Cicona, Nicole Wilke
Campus Cologne: Leonie Siemes, Benedikt Wolter, Laura Junker, Insa Bäumker, Annika Müller, Joel Pütz
Campus Frankfurt: Lisa Tinnes
The selection was made by a scholarship commission of Media University, whose chairwoman is Annelie Schwabe (career service and student councillor at Media University Berlin). The commission evaluates all applications irrespective of university location, field of study, or the desired degree.
Prof. Dr. Ronald Freytag presented the statistics of this year’s selection at the ceremony. The scholarships were distributed relatively evenly with regards to the number of applications at each location. Gender and citizenship were also represented roughly analogously with the applications received. Around one third of scholarships were awarded to international students. What made the difference between those who applied successfully and those who didn’t were categories, such as academic grades, social commitment, or having parents without a university degree.
The Deutschlandstipendium is awarded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in cooperation with private sponsors, most of which are private sector businesses. A total of six scholarships were donated this year by Media University’s cooperation partner bm. We would like to thank all scholarship sponsors!
