Inspiring Zoom Talk with Motion Designer Alexander Hanowski

December 1, 2020

In which fields is Motion Design applied today? And how can a brand be strengthened through motion branding? Last Friday, Motion Designer Alexander Hanowski was a guest in Prof. Rasmus Giesel’s online seminar and talked to the students of M.A. Communication Design and Creative Strategies about recent projects and the biggest challenges of his profession.

Hanowski is Co-Founder and Creative Director of the design agency unfold. He is also co-director of the Motion Design postgraduate course at the renowned Film Academy in Ludwigsburg. After a short introduction to the 10 most important principles of motion design, he presented the numerous fields of application in a very vivid way. Whether as film opening credits, in advertising, in the form of storytelling in series and films or in artistic installations: The enormous importance of motion design in today’s mediatized society can no longer be denied.

In his daily work, Alexander Hanowski and his team focus on the sub-area of motion branding. In the recent past, he has successfully developed and implemented motion design concepts for the television station mdr, Mercedes and the technology group Sartorius, among others. According to Hanowski, large companies in particular have long recognized the potential of motion branding: Because motion design transports emotions, strengthens the recognition value and awareness of a brand – and this in a world in which more and more brands and products compete for attention!

A zoom talk that made time fly by with all its exciting insights into the professional field of motion design and was able to clarify many questions of our students. We would like to thank Alexander Hanowski for his virtual visit at Media University Berlin.
