Frankfurt Media University students evaluate RTL relaunch

December 14, 2018

The expertise of Frankfurt media psychology students under Prof. Dr. Sven Dierks is in demand as part of another cooperation project with RTL. Two RTL employees briefed the students today on the subject of relaunch evaluation.

Responsiveness, content in “snackable” formats, intuitive user guidance – websites today have to offer all this and more to win over visitors and search engines. Good reasons to relaunch a website, i.e. to fundamentally change its structure and appearance, among other things. RTL is also planning this step. Students at Media University Frankfurt are accompanying the measure as part of a cooperation project: in the “Psychological Market and Media Research” module with Prof. Dr. Sven Dierks, they are evaluating the relaunch result. Julia Jelenkowski, Editorial Psychologist at RTL Interactive, and Marion Waligora, Head of Online Video at infoNetwork, came to the course from Cologne to discuss the project and provide background information. They spent three hours talking to the B.A. Media and Business Psychology students and Prof. Dierks about the special requirements of website relaunches and the opportunities for researching them. The aim of the collaboration is to collect and analyze evaluations of the relaunch from the target group and derive recommendations for possible further changes.

  • A website relaunch is a comprehensive project that requires a lot of time and resources, and not just in terms of preparation and implementation
  • The impact and any need for improvement must also be tracked - which is why Marion Waligora and Julia Jelenkowski from RTL met with the Frankfurt students to prepare their evaluation project.
