Future trends with design thinking

As part of Prof. Jenny Bergström’s Design Thinking course, our Master’s students of M.A. Communication Design and Creative Strategies developed workshop tools and games in cooperation with the design-oriented market research and consulting agency Point Blank.

Overview

The students set themselves two challenges, which cooperation partner Point Blank presented to them in a briefing. First, they had to find out how the agency could encourage workshop participants (e.g. medical professionals) to develop engaging stories and what a novel storytelling tool could look like.

Another challenge was to develop a workshop tool that supports Point Blank in making the collaborative development of future scenarios simple and intuitive, even for people who are not familiar with the design thinking approach.

The students used design thinking methods to understand the challenges, empathize with the target group, define the problem, develop ideas, create prototypes and test them. In a final presentation at the agency’s offices in Berlin, the group presented the storytelling and user journey concepts they had developed, which also took future trends into account.
