Talent Campus Video: Students produce their own shows

October 30, 2019

The Talent Campus Video workshop started in October 2019. Here, Media University students from all departments can learn everything about film shooting, editing techniques, moderation, and sound and lighting technology every week.

Students Alondra Aguilar Rangel and David Jüngling present the first program.

The weekly workshop took place every Tuesday under the direction of Jost Listemann, Sarah Meister and Felix von Stutterheim. The course began with a short theory section: here the students analyzed works by famous filmmakers such as Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Stanley Kubrick and Michelangelo Antonioni and learned which stylistic devices they could use to make their own film projects even more interesting.
After that, it was time for some practical work. The group was divided into three teams based on their existing knowledge. Whether camera technique, moderation or video editing: the Talent Campus_Video taught students from all fields the tools they need to plan and execute their own film projects. It was a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn more about filming and have a lot of fun.

  • Lecturer Jost Listemann starts the workshop with insights into film theory.
  • Students learn from and draw inspiration from major filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick.
  • Lecturer Sarah Meister explains how to work with a gimbal, including the app.
  • A student applies what she has learned.
  • The workshop participants discuss initial results.

First show of the workshop

The first show is about the difficulty of getting an appointment at the German Citizens’ Office in Berlin. A student interviews people who queue up at night for an appointment and an employee from the Citizens’ Office. In addition, two students set out on a journey through Berlin to find out what typical hipsters look like and where they can be found in Berlin.

Good Vibrations: Summer edition of the Talent Campus Video

In the second episode, the Talent Campus_Video team shares some refreshing tips for a wonderful summer in Berlin.
Whether on a stand-up paddle board or by bike, reporter Laura Mühlenmeier (M.A. Digital Journalism) gives two great tips on how to get to know the city in a different way. Studio guest Günther Krabbenhöft, who despite his 75 years can still be found in the Berghain, also encourages viewers to think outside the box and dare to break ranks. No sooner said than done. This second edition of the Talent Campus Show is bursting with positive energy and ends – how could it be otherwise – dancing.
