Professional Development for Teachers

Certificate Course at the Media University (location-independent)

In this training, participants receive an introduction to the Scalable Game Design (SGD) approach to promote Computational Thinking (CT) and to teach foundational knowledge in computer science education at the primary and secondary school levels. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a university certificate from the Media University of Applied Sciences.

Learning Objectives

  • You will develop didactic skills to promote CT using SGD
  • You will receive an introduction to the visual programming software AgentCubes Online for implementing SGD
  • You will learn how to engage your students in introductory activities (Frogger and Journey) in programming with the visual programming software AgentCubes Online in a playful way.

Course Director

Dr. Carmine Maiello is a Professor of Psychology at the Media University Berlin and an expert in Software Engineering and Educational Technology. He is the author of numerous books and journal articles and has been conducting Scalable Game Design workshops in Germany and Switzerland for many years.

Prof. Dr. Carmine Maiello leads the CT Labs project at the Media University, aimed at promoting the cognitive development of children and adolescents.
