Erasmus+ program at the Media University
The Media University is constantly expanding its international cooperation. In March 2021, the Media University was once again awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the entire duration of the ERASMUS+ program generation 2021-27!
In principle, you can study or do an internship abroad. In other European countries, you can have your project funded by ERASMUS+. For worldwide projects, the PROMOS program applies.
Switzerland and Erasmus+:
The Swiss ERASMUS+ program is Switzerland’s program for education, youth and sport, which complements the European Union’s ERASMUS+ program. The Swiss program will also be implemented in 2021.

Studying abroad – explained in 5 steps
The Media University is a member of the ERASMUS+ program and offers interested students the opportunity to apply for a semester abroad at a Media University partner university. Media University students receive state grants for one to two semesters within the European Union.
Step 1:
Ask your Erasmus coordinator about existing partnerships abroad and take your application documents with you. This includes this completed application form.
Step 2:
After you have submitted your application with all the requested documents, your Erasmus coordinator will make a selection from all applicants based on the following possible criteria:
- Academic performance
- Language competence – language of instruction at the host university
- Motivation
- Student activity within the framework of academic self-administration
- Location Berlin / Frankfurt / Cologne
If you are accepted, you will be nominated by the Erasmus coordinator at the host university of your choice.
Step 3:
You should start researching the offers and requirements of your chosen host university now at the latest and find out everything you need to know.
- Does the host university require its own, separate application?
- By when does it have to be received?
- Who is my local contact person?
- What leisure activities does the host university offer and are there any registration deadlines?
Step 4:
At your Erasmus coordinator: you will receive the Learning Agreement form and the CP crediting table. Enter the courses you would like to attend at the host university. Please check the courses offered on the website of the host university or ask there. When selecting courses, be sure to consult with your department head to ensure that the course content is the same or equivalent. The CP recognition table will then be forwarded to the General Examination Board, which will decide on the recognition of the modules.
The International Office will then provide you with the Grant Agreement for the Erasmus+ program. You should complete and sign this and hand it in to your ERASMUS+ coordinator.
You will be invited to take an online language test, which you must complete before your departure.
In the meantime, your application will be processed at the host university and once your ERASMUS+ place has been confirmed, you will receive your information documents from there.
Step 5:
Inform your health insurance company about your stay abroad and enquire about country-specific health risks. Clarify your accommodation during your stay abroad – not just on site! Inform yourself extensively about the host country (customs, transport connections, must-haves, etc.). And last but not least: stock up on clothing appropriate to the host country and the climatic conditions there.
After arrival at the host university
After you have moved into your accommodation in the host country and started your studies at the host university, please send a Confirmation of Arrival, issued by your host university, to your contact person at the International Office of Media University.
Please also let us know your exact address in the host country.
If there are any serious changes during your stay there, you must also inform the International Office of Media University.
Such changes can be A wish to extend your stay abroad, prolonged serious illness, problems arising with your studies, etc.
After returning to the Media University
After your return from abroad, you must contact the International Office of the Media University again and submit the following documents:
Study agreement “Learning Agreement” (completed section “After the mobility phase”)
Internship abroad
Students enrolled at the Media University can apply for an ERASMUS+ mobility grant for an internship semester.
Funding
Funding is available for compulsory internships or voluntary (graduate) internships in companies or other institutions. Internships in European institutions / organizations, national diplomatic missions and organizations that administer EU programmes are not eligible for funding. An internship must last a minimum of 2 months (60 days) and a maximum of 12 months.
The application procedure is similar to that for an ERASMUS+ scholarship for study purposes.
